How the Admissions Process Works

Step 1 — Submit Your Application
Complete the online application and submit the required application fee. This opens your admissions file.

Step 2 — Provide Required Documents
After submitting your application, you will upload or submit the required documentation listed below.

Step 3 — Admissions Interview
Once your application materials are reviewed, our admissions team will contact you to schedule an interview.

Step 4 — Acceptance and Enrollment
If you are accepted into the program, you will complete the remaining enrollment checklist to secure your seat in the March 2026 cohort.

Most applicants complete the full process (application, documents, interview) within two to three weeks.

• Valid California Driver’s License

• TEAS Entrance Exam Score

• BLS Certification (American Heart Association)

• Immunization Records

• Completed Live Scan Background Check

• $100 Non-Refundable Application Fee (Check or Money Order)

• Proof of Health Insurance

About the Vocational Nurse (VN) Training Program

Project Heartbeat’s Vocational Nurse (VN) Training Program provides an intensive, hands-on educational experience designed to prepare students for a nursing career. Through a combination of classroom instruction, skills labs, and clinical rotations, students gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed as a vocational nurse.

The program includes instruction in nursing fundamentals, medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology, maternal/child health, leadership and supervision, and clinical practice settings. Students participate in simulation-based training as well as supervised clinical experiences across partner healthcare sites.

Graduates of the program are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN licensing examination and pursue employment in hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, and other healthcare settings.

Program Length and Structure

The VN Training Program is a 47-week program following a structured calendar combining classroom learning, hands-on labs, and clinical rotations.

Total Hours:

• 576 hours classroom theory

• 954 hours clinical practice

• Anatomy & Physiology

• Pharmacology

• IV Therapy

• Medical-Surgical Nursing I

Term 2 – Medical-Surgical Nursing

• Medical-Surgical Nursing II

• Maternal & Child Health Nursing

• Nursing Skills Lab

• Geriatric Nursing

• Clinical Rotations

Term 3 – Specialty Nursing & Advanced Care

• Medical-Surgical Nursing III

• Leadership & Supervision

• Nursing Skills & Simulation

• Clinical Rotations in Specialty Areas

• NCLEX-PN Review and Preparation

Additional workshops and scheduled labs are incorporated throughout the calendar. Upon completion, students are prepared to take the NCLEX-PN exam.
